Your Role
Our Head of IR & Capital Formation will play a pivotal role in driving our firm’s fundraising efforts, building new relationships with prospective investors and maintaining strong communication with existing limited partners. The role may also expand to include helping our portfolio companies raise capital and connect with corporate partners. This position requires a strategic mindset, excellent relationship management skills, high EQ, strong storytelling abilities, and a deep understanding of the venture capital landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Leadership
- Lead capital raising initiatives, building and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective investors, with emphasis on family offices and institutional investors
- Attend select, high-value industry conferences and events
- Navigate and activate the firm’s network to identify prospective investors
- Develop systems to help evaluate investor potential for high-fit
- Meet with prospective limited partners on behalf of our firm, demonstrating deep knowledge of Pillar’s strategy and differentiation
- Manage the due diligence process
- Prepare and refine marketing materials and investment presentations, in collaboration with Pillar VC’s marketing and finance teams
- Track and report on fundraising progress to senior management
- Design and execute a calendar of ongoing engagement touch-points, including content, events, conferences, and in-person meetings
Communications & Reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for investor communication
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to investor requests and information needs
- Collaborate with our finance, investing and marketing teams on quarterly investor updates and periodic investor communications
- Partner with our finance team to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting
- Oversee the development of materials that articulate our firm’s strategy and differentiation in partnership with our marketing team
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
- Monitor market trends, macroeconomic factors, and regulatory developments
- Analyze competitor activity and industry dynamics
- Provide strategic insights to senior management based on investor feedback
- Collaborate with senior management on strategic planning initiatives
- Identify opportunities to enhance Pillar’s market position and investor appeal
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 6-10+ years of relevant experience in investor relations, venture capital, or related fields
- Proven track record in institutional fundraising, corp dev or business development
- Strong understanding of venture capital markets and investment processes
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-level relationships
- Proficiency in Airtable, Google Docs, Microsoft Office and financial modeling
Preferred
- Experience with investor relations platforms and CRM systems
- Existing network within the institutional investor community
- Background in venture capital or private equity
- Experience with alternative investments and private market
